On February 17, 2009 all full-power broadcast television stations in the United States will stop broadcasting on analog airwaves and begin broadcasting only in digital.

Analog TV (TV with antenna only, non cable TV, especially older TV before 1998) will not work on your TV unless you need TV contenver.

It doesn't affecting on any digital TV (most newer TV after 2004) and Cable TV with all kind of TV (older or newer TV or HD TV)

Might affected on battery powered TV, Black and white TV (older models)

Most TV conventer sells around $49.95 in many stores Target, BJ,Best Buy, Circuit City, Kmart, Radio Shack, Sears, Wal-mart, etc.

You can get two $40 coupons off toward to TV converter, cost you around $10. There is limit 2 $40 coupon per household.

as for now, Oct. 5, 2008, you have 135 days to ends of analog broadcasts

The website doesn't say about Canada or another countries. It listed for the United States so I guess yours is okay.

I dont think its a hoax. All of our news stations and tv stations have talked about it and give you info about what you need to know. Im not sure of the website but it is true.  Just chiming in what I know ;)

Just found out:

In Canada, the change date to DTV is August 31, 2011.

In the U.S., it is Feb 17, 2009.

However, if any Canadian lives near the border, it would be prudent to be ready by Feb, 2009.
