This was in this months National Geograpic also. This caught my eye because I like an use makeup. It gave very interesting facts:
Eye liner back in Egyt was used to make the eyes pop, the same as today, keep a flies away and cut the suns glare.
It also has a spiritual aspect as well.
Example: A wig stiffend with beewax was a potent sexual symbol that linked the wearer to HATHOR, the goddess of beauty. Green eye paint, or wadju may have invoked Hathor's protection.
