Content: How often do you get your eyes checked ?? every 6 months 19% once a year 38% when I feel like it 24% My eyes are PERFECT no need 19% TOTAL VOTES: 21 A few years ago,I asked my Dutchie to call the eye doc so I could have my eyes checked , before he did it I asked him to make an appointment for himself, he balked at the idea..Finally after a bit of a discussion he decided to "humor" me and get his eyes checked the same day I did. I had mine checked , I had to have new glasses, my prescription changed just a little bit, but when My Dutchie went in for his pressure test, it registered SKY HIGH ...I knew something was wrong, and so did the eye doc ..he took the test again to make sure he had the correct reading, sure enough it was as high as the first test, he sent my guy to the hospital immediately, turns out he had a DETACHED RETINA http://www.healthline.com/adamcontent/retinal-detachment He was operated on 3 days after he saw the eye doc.It was on out patient basis in one of the specialist hospitals in Amsterdam. 8 months later he was back in the hospital and had another operation on the other eye. This op was a bit less stressful than the first, but stressful just the same He now has to wear special glasses involving prisms, so in order for him to be able to see the eye doctor recomended prisms in his prescription glasses.( before he used to wear contacts, now he can not wear them any more ) I mentioned to the Doctor that I was deaf and my eyes were very important to me, he said because of that I may have saved my guys vision. So for those of you who say they have eye check ups when THEY FEEL LIKE IT, think twice Because your eyes are the most important things as a deaf person.
